WHITESNAKE Frontman Is 'Very Close' To Making Decision About New Bass Player
April 25, 2005WHITESNAKE mainman David Coverdale has issued the following update on the band's bassist search:
"We have had a list of potential players for some time now...quite some time before we announced it on [the official WHITESNAKE] web site. Each member of the band has promoted particular players, so we never had to advertise the matter...and we are very close to making our decision."
As previously reported, WHITESNAKE recently parted ways with bass player/singer Marco Mendoza in order to allow Marco to pursue "other musical avenues . . . that conflict with WHITESNAKE activities," according to an official statement.
Mendoza is currently touring the U.S. with SOUL SIRKUS, which also features Neal Schon (JOURNEY) on guitar, Jeff Scott Soto (TALISMAN, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) on vocals, and Virgil Donati (STEVE VAI, RING OF FIRE) on drums.
WHITESNAKE will launch a U.S. tour in mid-June. A list of currently confirmed tour dates can be found at this location.
